For with such sacrifices God is well pleased!

2015-Save-the-Date_blue-PROFILE-image-sizeCan you think of any sweeter words than these: God is well-pleased with your sacrifices? Yet this is exactly what the Bible says about giving of ourselves and our offerings!

Hebrews 13:15-16, “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is well-pleased.”

As we approach, Giving Tuesday, December 1st, 2015, I find great encouragement in knowing that as we give, and give generously; perhaps even sacrificially, we are well-pleasing to God Himself. I understand that giving at this time of the year can be difficult and even require sacrifice. There are so many other expenses during December, as we prepare for and celebrate the birth of our Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ. Sadly, in recent years, since the economic downturn of 2008, Christian giving has decreased dramatically as Americans gave only 2% of their disposable income to charity (including churches) in 2014. While this may seem necessary from a human perspective, from God’s vantage point, we are the ones who miss out on experiencing the joy and blessing of giving. A sacrificial gift may, or may not, be large. But it is of tremendous value to us as we serve women who often have no hope. Here’s the daily reality for most women who benefit from Women in the Window International:

  • They are 80% of the poorest of the poor, living on or below poverty level of $2 per day.
  • Most of the illiterate adults are women; girls are far less likely than boys to be educated.
  • They receive less health care & nutrition; often eating less and last because they’re female.

God’s word says, “I have plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) but they are even afraid to have hope because they don’t see any solution to their complex and debilitating problems. These are women who cannot imagine what it might be like to have a “voice!” to share this.

Our hearts’ desire is to see the lives of these women changed forever, as their poverty and injustice is replaced with dignity and purpose in Christ; as we become their voice and ask you to raise your voice and give on their behalf. Giving releases the power of transformation in the lives of the women we serve, as well as those who partner with us here in America. Everyone receives God’s blessing as His heart is warmed and His power released into our lives as we give.

This year we have seen more than 600 women leaders trained in transforming life and spiritual skills. These women will train other women, who in turn, will train still others! It costs an average of $350 to train one woman leader. Your gift can help us launch into 2016 postured to grow this number and deepen our impact in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

As we focus on training the next generation of women leaders who are committed to the Gospel, the whole Gospel for the whole person, in some of the most difficult and dangerous places on earth; your sacrificial giving helps make this possible. May you hear His voice, listen and obey in your giving, and then hear Him say, “Your sacrifice is well-pleasing to Me!”
