Praise God that Kim and Sherri arrived home safely today from North Africa! Ila and Janet, our health team from Kentucky and the UK, arrived in Egypt on Saturday. Their health training started on Sunday and will conclude tomorrow. Below is a fresh praise report from Ila and Janet:
As we head into our last day of training, we are humbled by the intelligence and passion of the 20 women with whom we are working. The women are participating enthusiastically and everyone feels free to contribute to our discussions. There is a wide range of ages but all are mature Christian women who love the Lord deeply and the people they serve. They face many obstacles working in a predominantly Muslim nation, although there is a higher percentage of Christians here compared to other North African countries.
The women represent 4 different ministries and 2 nations, and their areas of ministry are wide and varied:
- Discipleship training for young women and students
- Ministering to the poor
- Working with special needs children and their families
- Operating a medical clinic for the disabled
- Pastoral care
- Reaching out to refugees from other nations
- Running an orphanage
- Leading Bible studies for women
- Discipleship training to reach Muslim background believers
We are amazed at the depth and breadth of their commitment to their people and pray for deepening relationships. We also ask for your prayers as we and they seek to clarify how they can best make use of the health material presented. The issues of this region are complex, but they are forging ahead with little fear and believe that the Lord will give them victory in their ministries! “And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went” (1 Chronicles 18:6).
We also request your prayers as we meet with a new ministry on Wednesday night, and for continued good health and personal safety. Thank you for your love and prayer support!
In Him,
Ila & Janet
