“I have learned through this Advocacy training that I have a responsibility to help women and girls! I can do something. I can do something for the helpless. I can stand by them and act on behalf of justice and not tolerate the injustice that is so common here in our culture in Bangladesh. And that is possible because of Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.’”
What happens when women gather to gain a biblical understanding of their value before God? And their responsibility to care for, strengthen and speak up on behalf of other women and girls? Justice becomes a reality.
With a population of 165 million, Bangladesh is predominantly Muslim with less than 1% Christian. Women are oppressed, resulting in forced early marriage and other human rights violations. Poverty abounds with nearly 30% of women chronically malnourished. Women in the Window is thrilled to partner with the Bangladesh Bible Society as we seek viable ways to “replace poverty and injustice with dignity and purpose in Christ.” Their women’s leader, Grace is leading WiW Advocacy training for women across the nation. She has trained 60 women leaders already, with a plan for hundreds more in 2022. Each woman is learning how to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
