“Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power, and there was no one to comfort them.” Ecclesiastes 4:1
This Old Testament passage reflects the despair of those who had no hope; yet God has become their help and their hope through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus has called us to go and serve them through the power of the Holy Spirit, also called the Helper and Comforter in the Gospel of John.
Please pray for our Women in the Window International training team as we proceed to the Horn of Africa today and lead an Advocacy Training this coming week. We will be joined by a local advocacy official as we help each woman leader who participates to develop her own critical pathway as an “Ambassador of Peace in a Land of Conflict,” to those who seem to have lost everything through war, terrorism, and persecution. Yet they remain resilient and ready to serve Christ in deeply spiritual and incredibly practical ways. Here are some specific prayer requests as we get started:
- Pray for all the women leaders joining us in northern Uganda as they (and we!) travel by air and land to our designated location near the border of South Sudan, asking God for safe, and uneventful travel, and a distinct awareness of His Presence with us each step of the way.
- Pray for our visit to the refugee camp to provide much needed insight into the practical needs of our women leaders, their families and all they serve (men, women, and children) as they seek to rebuild their lives with very limited resources.
- Pray for God’s anointing on our WiW training designed to help the women understand their true identity in Christ, their value to their people, and a unique critical pathway of justice!
- Pray for each of us to experience a direct encounter with Christ through His Holy Spirit, as the One who came to set captives free, bind up the brokenhearted, and to bring Good News to the afflicted to transform us into His image and confirm us in His service.
