Sherri serves as both our “Heart” (spiritual formation) Volunteer Servant Leader and Board Chair.  A resident of Atlanta, Sherri has been following the Lord since 1982, and delights in knowing Him and making Him known.  She has held various professional and volunteer positions in the art, consulting, and real estate industries.  Certified in the BTCL (Bible Training for Church Pastors/Leaders) curriculum, she has devoted her volunteer time over the last decade to ministering to women in the least Christian regions of the world.  Sherri’s serious devotion to Christ, including her sense of humor and sweet nature, are a triple blessing to the entire Women in the Window team.

We hope you will enjoy learning more about Sherri in the brief interview below.  If God is leading you to serve with WiW, please learn more about our volunteer opportunities and contact us!

Sherri, what compelled you to serve with Women in the Window?
I wanted to join with other women who desire to make an impact for the Kingdom of God by following Him. Secondly, as we serve Him through WiW, we mutually build up each other’s faith in the Lord.

What has been the most enjoyable aspect of your volunteer experience so far?
Having the Lord reshape my short-sighted knowledge and understanding of Him, others, and myself. There is nothing like experiencing “hiccups” on a WiW trip to reveal aspects of myself that need to change, or witnessing the dramatic transformation of a woman overseas. Once during a training in West Africa, I witnessed a woman from Chad choose to forgive the people who murdered her family. I have experienced heavy moments and fun times through going on overseas trips. They have built my faith and love for the Lord in deeper ways.

What’s one of the most interesting things you’ve learned about WiW’s ministry?
WiW goes where they are invited, listens to the women they are serving, brings trainings that the women are interested in receiving, and wants long-term relationships with their sisters overseas.

Where have you traveled with WiW? How have you seen God use those trainings to transform the women and yourself personally?
I have traveled several times to various nations in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. I have seen the trainings transform women and myself personally.  As I mentioned before, the Lord has used WiW to reshape my thinking.  As WiW trains women how to study His Word, I have seen some of these same women teach others how to study. They keep passing on this invaluable tool to each other. Women have taken their businesses to the next level because of what they learned through micro-enterprise training. As women grow in the Lord and become equipped in the different capacities, I have witnessed Him using them to encourage and train other women in their nations.  The love and grace of our Lord for women is evident.  We have the privilege to be part of the Lord bringing nations together so He is glorified, praised, honored, and blessed through the lives of women.

What is a passage of Scripture that has special significance for you?
Romans 1:11-12: “I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong – that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”
