Volunteer Spotlight

Brigitte SylvestreWomen in the Window International is delighted to introduce our featured volunteer, Brigitte Sylvestre! Brigitte attended our inaugural Spring Luncheon this March and signed up to volunteer soon after. Brigitte’s heart for God’s world has opened up opportunities for her to travel and minister to women in Haiti, Honduras, India, Peru, and Romania. Her desire to help bring Light and Truth to oppressed women, coupled with her extensive communications experience, has been a true blessing to our ministry. We are overjoyed that Brigitte will serve as our event emcee for our next Evening in the Courtyard on November 19th!

We hope you will enjoy learning more about Brigitte in the brief interview below. If God is leading you to serve with WiW, please learn more about our volunteer opportunities and contact us!

Brigitte, what compelled you to serve with Women in the Window?
I have always had a heart for women who are marginalized and disadvantaged, and long for women to know their true worth and value in Christ. Earlier this year I completed a discipleship program that challenged me to think how I can strategically use my life to speak truth into our dark world. The more I learned about WiW, the more I realized how aligned my heart was with the ministry’s vision and mission.

What has been the most enjoyable aspect of your volunteer experience so far?
Getting to know the other women and men who are also a part of this ministry has been the most enjoyable aspect for me.

What’s one of the most interesting things you’ve learned about WiW’s ministry?
I really appreciate the emphasis on prayer. I think we sometimes forget where true power comes from. It’s not from our plans or strategies or connections. Our most powerful weapon is found on our knees before an all powerful God. Second Corinthians 10:4 tells us that “we use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.”

What is a passage of Scripture that has special significance for you?
Galatians 6:9: “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not give up.”
