Volunteer Spotlight

BrittanyWomen in the Window International is delighted to introduce our featured volunteer, Brittany Henson.  Brittany serves as one of our fabulous event volunteers, co-chairing last year’s Evening in the Courtyard as well as this year’s Luncheon! Brittany brings a high level of energy, organization, and sweetness to our volunteer team, and acknowledges that her strengths come from her faith: “God has truly shown me how important it is to recognize your skills, love what you do, make an impact, and have Christ shine through you.”

She surely shines the light of Christ in all she does, and we are so grateful! We hope you will enjoy learning more about Brittany in the brief interview below.  If God is leading you to serve with WiW, please learn more about our volunteer opportunities and contact us!

Brittany, what compelled you to serve with Women in the Window?
I met Kim almost 5 years ago while working as a student worker at Palm Beach Atlantic University.  After I graduated in 2011, I ran into her at the nail salon and she invited me to serve on the event committee for that year’s Evening in the Courtyard.  I really felt God calling me to serve in any capacity that I could to make an impact on the lives of women overseas.  It gave me such joy to be able to make a difference!

What has been the most enjoyable aspect of your volunteer experience so far?
Besides being able to raise awareness about the organization, having the opportunity to build relationships with women of all different ages.  To be candid, this was the first time in my life I really understood the importance of surrounding myself with strong, Christian women.  I love working with each and every one of them!

What’s one of the most interesting things you’ve learned about WiW’s ministry?
Definitely the passion for empowering women overseas.  I have had the opportunity to hear from several international speakers connected with Women in the Window, and am constantly encouraged by their passion for training women leaders.  They have made a commitment to answer God’s call for their lives, and are making such an impact!  This has been such an encouragement in my own life to answer God’s call in my social, career, and spiritual lives.

What is a passage of Scripture that has special significance for you?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

This is the verse that my parents have written in every birthday card, Bible, and encouraging note they’ve given me.  It is definitely my life verse.  Learning how to lean not on my own understanding is not something that has always been easy for me, but God has always guided my path, from attending PBA to now working at PBA, to Kim, and then Women in the Window!
