Every time Women in the Window International conducts a ministry training in partnership with women leaders in the 10/40 Window, we ask for a full report—because we want you to hear directly from our ministry partners and the women we serve together.
Here’s a brief ministry update from Bangladesh, shared by “Anika,” who visited us here in the U.S. last year:
“The Lord has blessed the training with 100% participation, opening the ladies’ hearts as they commit to working with us. Those who are weak receive zeal from the Holy Spirit and then promise to connect with us and with one another at completion. They praise the Lord for the opportunity and express interest in participating in church activities and additional women’s training. This inspires them and inspires us, too. They were truly blessed.
Many share their testimonies and recount their struggles in life, along with their hopes and failures, which makes the training even more significant. They identify with and see their identity in Christ.
Finally, we were grateful that a few direct victims of domestic violence were able to attend. Their earnest request is to keep them in our prayers.”
A Testimony from the Training
Hello, my name is Kiskun Memoti. I thank God for giving me the chance to attend this training. From this Essential & Trauma Healing Training, I learned the five steps of Bible study: Preparation, Observation, Interpretation, Application, and Reflection. I also learned how to heal from emotional wounds, how to listen to others, how to go through grief, how to lament, and how to forgive—things I never knew before.
The part that touched me most was learning about the grief journey. I now understand how to slowly come out of sadness in a healthy way. Here is a part of my story to help you understand why this training means so much to me…
I fell in love with a man and married him by running away from home, without my family’s permission. My family never accepted my marriage. Then, there was always trouble in our married life. We had money problems, and my husband did not work regularly. He would often drink alcohol and then beat me.
To support my family, I worked as a daily laborer. But my husband’s drinking only got worse. He even accused me of being in love with other men and started abusing me more and more. Still, I stayed with him for 15 years, because I loved him.
But one day, I could no longer take the abuse. I finally decided to separate from him and started living alone with my child. Now, I have no contact with him.
When I think about my past, I feel deep pain and sadness, and before this training I could not share it with anyone. I thank WIW and Talitha Koumi for arranging this beautiful training. I want to share what I have learned with my family and neighbors.
