Sowing in Rocky Soil – Sushmita’s Story

“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…”
Isaiah 1:18a

But the truth is, she is sowing seeds in rocky soil. According to Jesus in Luke 8:11, “The seed is the Word of God.” Sushmita has come to know and love the Word of God, and the God of the Word. She longs for her family to understand that rather than millions of idols who impersonate God, there is one true God who died in their place to offer everlasting life in Heaven, and to give us all an abundant life, each and every day. Her family is steeped in religious tradition, but Jesus came to set them free, free indeed!

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:31-32

Sushmita has participated in the ministry of Women in the Window in India!

She is learning to address the needs of the whole person through our focus on Heart (Spiritual Development), Head (Leadership Development), Health, Human rights and Hands (business development).

Fast Fact:

The idea that women can help their families financially is an incredible source of encouragement and daily sustenance to overcome their poverty.

Poverty among women is a harsh reality in many of the nations where WiW serves. Within the 10/40 Window—home to the world’s largest concentration of poverty—many women survive on only a few hundred dollars a year. In these contexts, empowering women in business development is not just transformative; it is essential.

This month, WiW is focused on providing a powerful resource for Sushmita, and hundreds more just like her throughout the 10.40 nations of North Africa, and several Asian nations, including India!

This resource is Essentials — a Bible study that relates to the many facets of a woman’s life: Relationships that Matter, Creativity that Leads to Generosity and others.

Will you help us provide Essentials in her native tongue of Hindi so that the seed of the Word of God can set their hearts free?

We have received a generous donation of $5,000 to match dollar for dollar so that Essentials can be translated, published, printed and taught in Pakistan, Algeria and India! As you give, you are helping Sushmita, and hundreds of other women like her, set captives free as they break up the rocky soil.

‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’
Hosea 10:12 NLT
