What do you have in your hand?

A small amount of flour, when mixed with oil, sugar and other key ingredients, can keep a family from going hungry. A tiny seed planted in fertile soil, watered, and nurtured, can grow into a mighty tree that shelters from the storms of life. Something as small as an unnoticed tiny seed can provide food and shelter.

So, what do you have in your hand?

Last week, our WiW Event team met to prepare for our Fruitful, Fashionable and Flourishing Fashion Show and Luncheon. It promises to be a fabulous event, by the way! Toni Gonzalez, one of our board members, led a devotion focused on what God has put in our hands, and just how we are to use it – a focus on the minute becoming the miraculous!

Every day in dozens of nations and situations, women face perplexing situations with little or no evident solutions. WiW trainings provide what is needed to bring hope and change to them and then through them. Women like Oishi who recently completed our WiW Essentials Bible study and Preventative health training in her 90% Muslim nation, is bringing this lasting change in a non-threatening yet life-giving way. Here is her story:

“One of my neighbors likes to visit me when it is safe for her to do so. You see, her family is Muslim, and it is dangerous. Yet, she comes often, with a hungry heart, to hear more. “I really enjoy hearing the stories about your Jesus. I would like to come and listen to more of them,” she says this with each short visit.”

“Yes! Whenever she has time, she comes to visit me, and I share Bible stories with her about how much God loves and includes women in His Story. Please pray for her, that one day she may accept Jesus Christ as her Savior.

During our WiW training, we focused on 2 Timothy 2:2: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

“There are many women in my community who are not aware of health issues and who do not know God. Therefore, I want to share with them what I have learned through this training about healthy living, nutrition, proper handwashing, identifying, and preventing chronic diseases, exercise, and about how to study and know God’s Word.”

Oishi is using the small, yes, even minute opportunities God gives, to sow seeds that will one day be miraculous as her neighbor places her trust in Jesus as her Savior, too.

So today, dear friend, I want to ask you, what do you have in your hand? And how do you want to release it into God’s hands for His beautiful and saving purposes?

Join our WiW team as a volunteer! A prayer partner! And give whatever amount God has placed in your hands today –

“because when what is in your hand is placed in God’s hands, it becomes more than enough.” Toni Gonzalez, WiW Board of Directors (pictured below with her husband, Mike)
