Have you ever wondered just why it takes so long to reap what we sow?
In other words, we plant the seeds of faith, hope and love . . . and then we wait. Our circumstances do not immediately change. In fact, hard times in our lives persist and it seems God has forgotten His promises. Like you, I have wondered why, and long to understand God’s heart.
Yes, just when it seems that the heavens are silent, or worse, that they are hard as brass and reverberate our distress and sadness, the light of God’s love comes shining through the clouds as He blesses us in ways that can only be explained by His faithfulness!
“Sow with a view to righteousness [that righteousness, like seed, may germinate]; reap in accordance with mercy and lovingkindness.
Break up your uncultivated ground, for it is time to seek and search diligently for the Lord [and to long for His blessing] until He comes to rain righteousness and His gift of salvation on you.”
Hosea 10:12 The Amplified Bible
Hosea uses agricultural imagery to suggest that we must deliberately invest in God’s Kingdom and cultivate the habits of a faithful life and that we will ultimately reap God’s mercy and His sure blessings. This is exactly what happens when you invest in the work of Women in the Window International. Seeds are sown, and lives are changed, for good, forever! Just this week we received the following account of just how your faithfulness to WiW during what our Asian ministry leader calls, “covid time,” the pandemic of 2020-21, has just now begun to bear much fruit and that fruit is impacting the next generation:
“Do you remember the Lay Counseling and Trauma Counseling trainings we conducted during covid time in 2020-21? I was wondering, how, when and where our women have used this training experience. But even as I wonder, I am also sure God made those trainings very meaningful for us.
Today the Lord gave a surprise. A girl from the Northern part of our nation connected with me as she had misplaced her Lay Counseling certificate. I searched and found it from the old emails and sent it to her. She was so grateful. On asking why the certificate is needed she replied,
“I am Malini, and I live in the northeastern region. I am married and I teach the High School Section in a Government Higher Secondary School. Because of this Counseling training, our Principal saw the potential in me for Counselling and has appointed me as the school Counsellor.“
It really did help me. Yes, God has been so gracious to me! I work with young people and their mothers and these courses really groomed me. Thank you so much!”
Our summer season is focused on both sowing and reaping – as we continue our trainings in Africa, Asia and the Middle East – and as we watch for the harvest that only God can bring. You truly are an essential part of this ministry as you water the seeds we sow with your prayers, and as you sustain this ministry team, including our ministry partners, with your faithful offerings!
