I’m looking out the window of our Women in the Window International office (Yes! We do still have an actual office, and YES!! You are most welcome to visit us sometime soon) and I notice the grass is gently moving with the summer breeze. My mind immediately reflects on a precious Bible verse from my very favorite book of the Bible, Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 8:
“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
These lovely blades of grass will soon wither, just like the Bible says. But God’s Word, the Bible, endures forever; when we build our lives on its truth and live as though it is truly true, God can bring lasting fruit and enduring beauty from each of us.
And that is precisely why we want all that we do here at Women in the Window to embrace our core value, we are Bible Based.
Jesus said we find life here,
“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me.”
John 5:39 (emphasis mine)
And He promises stability as we obey the Bible,
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
Matthew 7:24
Last but not least, He promises that our impact will be both global and eternal as we do!
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
But don’t just take my word for it! Consider these statistics about the Bible:
- The Bible is the bestselling book of the year every single year. In the United States alone, 50 Bibles are sold every minute, 72,000 every day, and 26 million every year, with over 5 billion distributed copies.
- It is estimated that there have been more than five hundred English translations of the Bible.
- The Bible is the most-translated book translated into (at least) 2800 languages.
This 3rd bullet point is of vital importance to Women in the Window as we serve women in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, with an impact into at least 46 nations. Whenever possible, we provide a Bible for the women we train so that they can learn to discern and benefit from His promises in their own lives!
