Don’t you just love it when a friend asks how they can pray for you? I sure do! I pause to run through the list in my mind and heart to determine the priorities for prayer.
Knowing that my friend has limits on what they can include in their prayer on my behalf, as they should, I want to choose wisely. But how I treasure the reality that when we “agree in prayer,” God hears and answers.
There are hundreds of prayer promises in God’s Word. My favorites are those that come directly from the lips of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Here are just 4 examples, one from each of the Gospels:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Mark 11:24
“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”
Luke 18:1
“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
John 16:24
